Couples therapy in San Diego & online across California
Helping partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and feel more connected in their relationship.
When the same conversations keep hurting
Relationships can be deeply meaningful, yet feel so hard. You may love each other, but still find yourselves stuck in the same arguments, the same shutdowns, or the same sense of distance. Maybe communication has gotten tense, trust has been shaken, or it feels harder to rely on your partner. Couples therapy offers a place to slow things down and make sense of what is happening underneath the surface. Together, we look at the cycle you keep getting pulled into and begin creating a new way of relating, one that feels more honest, connected, and secure.
What couples often bring in
Ongoing communication struggles
Rebuilding trust after hurt or betrayal
Emotional distance or disconnection
Sexual intimacy issues
Recurring conflict that goes nowhere
Feeling stuck in the same painful cycle
What we’ll be doing in therapy
In our work together, we will start by noticing the patterns that take over when things get hard. Often, one person reaches and the other pulls back, or both people end up feeling defensive, overwhelmed, or alone. We will slow those moments down so we can understand what is happening underneath them. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy, or EFT, which helps couples move out of reactive cycles and toward more honest, secure connection. That means we are not just talking about conflict on the surface. We are paying attention to the emotions, needs, fears, and longings underneath it. Over time, therapy can help you communicate more clearly, respond with more care, and feel more connected in the relationship you are trying to build.
What sessions can feel like
Couples therapy is a space where each partner's unique perspective and feelings are welcomed. Sessions move at a pace that supports honesty without forcing things before they feel ready. You can expect thoughtful guidance, structure when needed, and room for both of your experiences to matter. Some sessions may feel relieving and connecting, while others may bring up frustration, grief, or vulnerability as you work through long-standing patterns. That is a normal part of the process. My goal is to create a setting that feels grounded, supportive, and emotionally safe enough for real change to happen. Over time, many couples begin to feel more understood, more connected, and better able to navigate hard moments together.

Frequently asked questions
How much do sessions cost?
The fee for couples therapy is $180 for a 50 to 55 minute session. The fee for an extended couples therapy session is $250 for an 80 minute session.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. As a licensed therapist, I work with insurance companies to help make therapy more affordable. Insurance coverage for mental health services typically requires a clinical diagnosis. During our initial session, I will conduct an assessment to determine your eligibility and, if appropriate, assign a diagnosis that allows your insurance to be billed.
How long does therapy take?
Therapy tends to work best when clients meet regularly, usually once per week at the beginning of treatment. How long therapy lasts varies from couple to couple. Some clients find relief and reach their goals within 8 to 12 sessions, while others find that therapy is a longer-term investment. Many clients move to less frequent sessions over time as progress is made.
Where are you located?

What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE)—a written estimate of the expected cost of your mental health services before you begin treatment.
As a self-pay or uninsured client (or if you choose not to use your insurance), I am required by federal law to provide you with a GFE prior to your first appointment, and upon request at any time during treatment. Your Good Faith Estimate will include:
The expected cost of services over the next 12 months
My session fees and the frequency of sessions we anticipate
Any other items or services reasonably expected as part of your care
Please note: a Good Faith Estimate is not a contract. The actual number of sessions you attend and the total cost of your care will depend on your individual needs and progress, which can be difficult to predict in advance.
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute that bill. For more information about your rights, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.
If you have any questions about your Good Faith Estimate or the cost of services, please don't hesitate to reach out — I'm happy to talk through this with you before we get started.
What if I have an emergency between sessions?
If you are in crisis and need immediate help, please call 911, the San Diego Access and Crisis Line at 1-888-724-7240, or the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.
Do you have reduced fee options?
I believe financial barriers should not stand in the way of accessing quality mental health care. I offer a limited number of sliding scale fee spots, with rates determined on a case-by-case basis. Because these spots are limited, please reach out to inquire about current availability. If I am unable to accommodate you, I am happy to provide referrals to lower-cost resources in the community.
