Individual therapy in San Diego & online across California

When life feels heavy, stuck, or hard to sort through

Sometimes you know exactly what is wrong. Other times, you just know something feels off. You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or worn down by patterns that keep repeating in your life or relationships. Individual therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what you are carrying, and begin moving toward change with more clarity and support. Together, we can explore what is beneath the surface, strengthen your understanding of yourself, and help you build new ways of coping, relating, and moving forward.

What we’ll be doing in therapy

Therapy is a place to better understand what you are feeling, why certain patterns keep showing up, and what may be getting in the way of the life or relationships you want. In our work together, we may look at your emotions, your past experiences, your current stressors, and the ways you have learned to protect yourself over time. We will make space for both insight and practical change. That might mean learning to respond differently to anxiety, noticing unhelpful patterns in relationships, building self-trust, or finding new ways to care for yourself in hard seasons. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more able to move through life with intention.

What sessions can feel like

Individual therapy is a space that is supportive and collaborative. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. Sessions can be a place to reflect, process, build insight, and practice new ways of approaching what feels hard. Some days therapy may feel relieving or clarifying. Other days it may feel tender, emotional, or challenging in a productive way. My role is to help create a space where you can be honest, feel supported, and move at a pace that feels manageable.

Insurance note:

As a licensed therapist, I work with insurance companies to help make therapy more affordable. Insurance coverage for mental health services typically requires a clinical diagnosis. During our initial session, I will conduct an assessment to determine your eligibility and, if appropriate, assign a diagnosis that allows your insurance to be billed.

Frequently asked questions

How much do sessions cost?

The fee for an individual therapy session is $150 for a 50 minute session.

Do you take insurance?

Yes.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy tends to work best when clients meet regularly, usually once per week at the beginning of treatment. How long therapy lasts varies. Some clients find relief and reach their goals within 8 to 12 sessions, while others find that therapy is a longer-term investment. Many clients move to less frequent sessions over time as progress is made.

Where are you located?

I offer in-person counseling sessions in the Mission Hills neighborhood of San Diego and online therapy for clients throughout California.

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE)—a written estimate of the expected cost of your mental health services before you begin treatment.

As a self-pay or uninsured client (or if you choose not to use your insurance), I am required by federal law to provide you with a GFE prior to your first appointment, and upon request at any time during treatment. Your Good Faith Estimate will include:

  • The expected cost of services over the next 12 months

  • My session fees and the frequency of sessions we anticipate

  • Any other items or services reasonably expected as part of your care

Please note: a Good Faith Estimate is not a contract. The actual number of sessions you attend and the total cost of your care will depend on your individual needs and progress, which can be difficult to predict in advance.

If you receive a bill that is $400 or more above your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute that bill. For more information about your rights, visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

If you have any questions about your Good Faith Estimate or the cost of services, please don't hesitate to reach out—I'm happy to talk through this with you before we get started.

What if I have an emergency between sessions?

If you are in crisis and need immediate help, please call 911, the San Diego Access and Crisis Line at 1-888-724-7240, or the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.

Do you have reduced fee options?

I believe financial barriers should not stand in the way of accessing quality mental health care. I offer a limited number of sliding scale fee spots, with rates determined on a case-by-case basis. Because these spots are limited, please reach out to inquire about current availability. If I am unable to accommodate you, I am happy to provide referrals to lower-cost resources in the community.
